Since 2018, I’ve been working to bring my background in game design to the world of Learning & Development at Dell Technologies. On the Professional Development team, most of my work is split between motion graphic video design & interactive learning module development. My uniquely varied experience has allowed me to serve as the go-to expert for finding creative ways to make learning materials more engaging.
The bulk of my time is spent working in creative software: The Adobe suite overall, but primarily After Effects for motion graphics, and Articulate Storyline for interactive course development.
For those outside of the L&D space who may be unfamiliar, Articulate Storyline is essentially an unholy fusion between PowerPoint and a simple game engine—it features layouts & slides very similar to PowerPoint, but also a system of layers, triggers, variables, & an object timeline. It also allows direct JavaScript injection. The results are usually an HTML5 package or SCORM package for use in digital learning environments.
Using Storyline combined with motion graphics video output from After Effects, I turn dry learning materials into more engaging & varied interactive experiences.
Unfortunately, since all of my work is for internal training purposes, I can’t share it here. However, I can say that I’ve worked on many high-profile programs, including the “Be The Change” Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion training program, which is now a required course for all Dell Technologies employees and has been completed by over 100,000 people.
